About Us

The Eastern Cape Provincial Book Fair is a flagship initiative of the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC), celebrating the province’s rich literary heritage and its role in shaping South Africa’s cultural landscape. Hosted in Buffalo City, a UNESCO City of Literature, the Fair runs from 3–5 October 2025 and is fast becoming a permanent highlight on the national literary calendar.

More than a celebration of books, the Fair is a platform for dialogue, creativity, and economic empowerment. The programme features book launches, panel discussions, masterclasses, children’s activities, and book exhibitioons. It supports writers publishing in their home languages, while honouring the legendary authors of the Eastern Cape who continue to inspire new generations.

The Eastern Cape Provincial Book Fair is where stories live, voices rise, and communities connect through the power of literature.
