The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC) MEC Fezeka Bayeni has congratulated Chippa United Football Club on their 10-year anniversary and as they prepareto celebrate the milestone and play tomorrow, 01 February 2020, against Orlando Pirates in Port Elizabeth.
“The Chilli Boys who come from humble beginnings have achieved so many milestones within the decade and have adopted the street soccer style played in our communities to their professional games. They are the only football team in the Eastern Cape (EC) that play in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and they continue to inspire the youth, particularly boys who aspire to be football players.”
“We wouldn’t have flocked to the stadiums to watch PSL games played in the Province if it were not for the Chilli Boys who played some of their home games. I would like to congratulate the team in their 10-year anniversary and for the chairman, Mr Siviwe Mpengesi for having a vision of starting a team that will one day play in the PSL. We will continue, as government to support the development of sport and we wish the team well, hoping soon we will celebrate with them in winning the PSL season,” said MEC Bayeni.
Chippa United Football Club is a South African based club in Port Elizabeth. It was founded by Mr Siviwe Mpengesi in Nyanga Township in January 2010 and later moved to Eastern Cape.
