The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC) MEC Fezeka Bayeni invites members of the media to the post-policy speech briefing and launch of the Provincial Relief Fund for the Cultural, Creative and Sport Sector on 27 May 2020 in East London.
The briefing will focus on unpacking the key issues covered in the MEC's speech, which she will deliver tomorrow, 26 May 2020 at the Virtual House Sitting in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature and that includes the department's plans for the current financial year.
Furthermore, the MEC will take an opportunity to launch a relief fund that is meant to assist artists, creatives, dancers, athletes, technical personnel and the core ecosystem that supports them to soften the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on their livelihood.
Many South Africans have suffered and continue to do so under the economic impact of COVID-19, which has affected many livelihoods and threatens many others. Artists and athletes across the country and in the Eastern Cape in particular, have been among the hardest hit by the pandemic.
The Provincial Relief Fund application forms will be accessible on our social media platforms including the departmental website.
