Different Government Departments planned several activities to celebrate Africa Month that culminates to Africa Day celebration, including educational social dialogue programme done by the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC) in partnership with the South Africa Institute of Crime Prevention and Reintegrated of Offenders (NICRO) and University of Fort Hare debating, International office for African students from Fort Hare team.

Historically, Africa Day celebrates the day when the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), the precursor to the African Union (AU), was formed in 1963. It acknowledges the progress that we, as Africans, have made, while reflecting upon the common challenges we face in a global environment.

The African Union, comprised of 53 member states, has brought together the continent of Africa to collectively address the challenges it has faced, such as armed conflict, climate change, and poverty.
