The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC) will host the 8th edition of the National Youth Camp for young people in the province to engage on issues affecting them and the community from today, 01 to 7 December 2019 in Jeffery's Bay.
The weeklong programme which is initiated by the National Department of Sport and Recreation is structured in a manner that it's a social connector and a powerful development tool that seeks to address various social ills. It is also positioned as a well-designed sport and physical activity programmes with potent mechanisms for fostering healthy youth and individual development, teaching positive values, life skills, tolerance and leadership skills.
The programme furthermore promotes inclusion of disadvantaged youth especially, youth with disability, those out of school, youth at risk, girl children, unemployed and rural youth.
About 250 learners and reserves have been selected to participate in this year's youth camp edition from all the 8 districts of the province. At the end of the youth camp, there will be learners that will selected to be trailblazers and awarding them with certificates.
